Apparently some Democrats in the Senate have had enough of President Trump’s “fake news” allegations, especially in the wake of all the “CNN sucks” chants at yesterday’s Trump rally in Tampa, and are taking immediate empty action:

Can we call it the Acosta Protection Act?
Sen. Blumenthal led the way:
Introduced a resolution today w/Senate colleagues reaffirming our commitment to the First Amendment calling on the President to respect our free press rather than demean & diminish it.

The same day we introduce a resolution condemning the White House’s treatment of reporters, President Trump amplifies attacks on CNN’s @Acosta. This is unacceptable & intolerable.
— Richard Blumenthal (@SenBlumenthal) August 1, 2018
Retaliating & banning reporters from public briefings on public property & retweeting the harassment of reporters at his rallies violates the public trust & perhaps the law.
— Richard Blumenthal (@SenBlumenthal) August 1, 2018
Punishing reporters for simply doing their job is a strongman tactic that cannot be tolerated in a free democracy. President Trump may not like tough questions, but that’s simply too bad.

Good luck with all that, Dems!
Here it is, something more meaningless than our tweets. https://t.co/fI35O2qqDv
