It all started when Fox News’ Brit Hume slammed politicians who are standing in opposition to a ban on abortions after 20 weeks:
The senators who voted against protecting children after 20 weeks, who are fully developed and can feel pain, need to see this baby. This is a little girl who was born at 21 weeks, and is considered the "most premature" baby to survive. https://t.co/rbRZTKMO4y

Some day we will hang our heads at the slaughter of human life we have permitted in the name of “women’s health.” https://t.co/kXSuYbzA3q

An attempt was made to turn that into a statement against gun rights:
Some day we will hang our heads at the slaughter of human life we have permitted in the name of 2nd amendment.

Hume responded this way:
There’s a huge difference. Gun murders are illegal. Killing by abortion is legal and since 1973, an estimated 60 million such deaths have occurred, dwarfing U.S. murders by firearms. https://t.co/M5JkcxxE2x
