As we reported earlier, Sen. Gillibrand tried and failed at attempts to make James Mattis look sexist at a hearing this morning. But it was Mattis’ explanation of his goal for the U.S. military (if confirmed as Secretary of Defense) that is sure to trigger many:
Gen #Mattis: US needs to focus on a military so lethal it will be "our enemy's longest day and worst day when they run into that force." pic.twitter.com/PZ7r6ihL0f

"We have to stay focused on a military that is so lethal that on the battle field it will be the enemy's longest day & worst day" – Mattis

#Mattis said his top focus will be on the #military's readiness, “making sure the enemy’s day is their longest day and their worst day.”

Mattis’ primary focus won’t be climate change or social engineering? Excellent.
