Liberals were applauding after the White House announced that President Obama was teaming up with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau to put into place a massive (and supposedly permanent) ban on drilling in Arctic waters. And now here’s a buzzkill for lefty fans of Trudeau: Apparently President-elect Donald Trump and Trudeau are on the same page regarding the Keystone XL pipeline, with Trudeau telling reporters today that he is “extremely confident” that the project will go forward once President Obama is out of office:
Third question. Keystone XL pipeline. US hinting it will be approved. How does it fit with Trudeau?

Trudeau supports Keystone XL. Pipelines are cheaper and safer to transport product.

Trudeau says Trump brought up Keystone XL when they spoke and says he will work with him on it. Confident right decision will be taken.

JUST IN: Canadian PM Trudeau says first conversation with President-elect Trump was 'very supportive' of Keystone XL pipeline

Didn’t progressives want the president-elect to start working with liberals in other countries?
Trudeau also told reporters he’s not sure what the U.S. will do on climate change:
Trudeau says we have to wait and see if Trump follows through on pledges not to abide by Paris accord.

There may be short term gain if Canada doesn't act on climate. But in long term, Trudeau says that's not prudent.

Trudeau says it's an opportunity to lead on climate if US takes a step back. Applause from crowd. #yyc
