Earlier this month I couldn’t help but get a big laugh out of Gov. Gavin Newsom turning the gaslighting up to full blast by referring to California under his leadership (and lefty control mostly) as the “true freedom state”:
California is the true freedom state.
Protecting liberty from a rising tide of oppression taking root in statehouses. Weakness, masquerading as strength. Small men in big offices.
Freedom is who we are – anyone from anywhere can accomplish anything here. pic.twitter.com/3WZMd29xTf

You know what’s weird about that (other than the obvious)? If Newsom’s right that means his state leads the nation in the number of people who are fleeing his brand of “true freedom”:
2022 Top U-Haul Growth States
1. Texas – Republican
2. Florida – Republican
3. South Carolina – Republican2022 Bottom U-Haul Growth States
48. Michigan – Democrat
49. Illinois – Democrat

According to U-Haul’s annual report, California — Newsom’s “true freedom state” — is the number one “move out” state in the nation:
Texas and Florida topped the list of states where people are moving to for the third year in a row.
U-Haul’s annual report for 2022 showed that people continue to head to the Lone Star State and the Sunshine State, while leaving California and Illinois.
The report showed that out of more than two million one-way U-Haul truck transactions, California and Illinois saw the greatest net losses of one-way U-Haul trucks.
Let’s say you’re a California liberal and are serving in state politics — what would your “solution” to this increasing problem be? You guessed it! Try to punish people for fleeing the state:
For some reason so many people are fleeing Gov. Newsom’s freedom utopia of California that he wants to tax them for heading to more oppressive places like Florida and Texas. pic.twitter.com/ad7x5nP8rl

Yep, California Dems are trying to make it known that you can check out any time you like but you can never leave:

So basically California Dems now want to apply their state taxes to residents of other states just because at one time they lived in California but decided to get out? Honestly I’m not too surprised.
Wonder how this would be legal…

Sounds unconstitutional to me.

Legal shmegal! Since when do today’s Democrats let any Constitution get in the way of their efforts to create a progressive utopia?
