NPR headline about what happened to a mother/daughter in 'post Roe v. Wade era' skips crucial context

Yet another National Public Radio headline has been spotted that’s making people wonder if there’s a lot more to it:

Just a few details are missing that could have easily at least fit into the tweet.

Here’s how NPR has framed a story out of Nebraska:

The story begins this way:

A 41-year-old woman is facing felony charges in Nebraska for allegedly helping her teenage daughter illegally abort a pregnancy, and the case highlights how law enforcement can make use of online communications in the post-Roe v. Wade era.

Police in Norfolk, Neb., had been investigating the woman, Jessica Burgess, and her daughter, Celeste Burgess, for allegedly mishandling the fetal remains of what they’d told police was Celeste’s stillbirth in late April. They faced charges of concealing a death and disposing of human remains illegally.

The headline and first couple of paragraphs are clearly intended to cause pro-aborts to hyperventilate over the repeal of Roe v. Wade, but, first of all, NPR is clearly not in a hurry to provide the full context to what they mean by “mishandling of fetal remains”:

Well that’s different, and NPR obviously knew it but would rather rile up the Left to gin up more bogus backlash to the Supreme Court conservatives.

An honest media report would have been able to work that into the headline or sub-headline.

Oh, and one more thing. NPR attempted to make the story about what’s going to happen in a post-Roe dystopia, but…

Solid journalism all around, NPR!
