Earlier today during remarks delivered at the NATO summit, President Biden brought back respect for our nation’s cherished norms and institutions by lashing out at the Supreme Court over the abortion ruling while calling on the Senate to end the filibuster. Biden’s mood won’t get much better on the flight home after he learns about today’s Supreme Court ruling that will put another crimp on his agenda:
The Supreme Court sharply curtails the authority of the EPA to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions that cause climate change. In a 6-3 ruling, the court sides with conservative states and fossil-fuel companies in adopting a narrow reading of the Clean Air Act.

BREAKING: SCOTUS rules that "Congress did not give the EPA the power to devise emissions caps based on the generation shifting approach the Agency took in the (Obama era) Clean Power Plan."
— Greg Price (@greg_price11) June 30, 2022
The Court ruled 6-3 that such EPA regulations need to go through Congress, which oddly enough has upset many lefty members of Congress:
SCOTUS: Hey Congress, how about you make some laws instead of dumping every important decision in our laps?
CONGRESS: Clearly this is the end of democracy

Not only the “end of democracy,” but the end of the world!
You won’t be surprised to know that questioning the legitimacy of America’s institutions is suddenly not a “threat to the very fabric of our democracy.” Sen. Elizabeth Warren kicks off the meltdown parade:
Our planet is on fire, and this extremist Supreme Court has destroyed the federal government’s ability to fight back.
This radical Supreme Court is increasingly facing a legitimacy crisis, and we can't let them have the last word.
— Elizabeth Warren (@SenWarren) June 30, 2022
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is playing the “we’re all doomed” card as well:
Catastrophic. A filibuster carveout is not enough. We need to reform or do away with the whole thing, for the sake of the planet. https://t.co/if8PIbfs42
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) June 30, 2022
SCOTUS says Congress needs to have more control over these things and Democrat members of Congress are angry about that? Perhaps the Democrats sense what’s likely to happen after the midterm elections.
MSNBC’s Chris Hayes is also keeping it apocalyptic:
Run out of words to describe this court, but, among other things, it's now a threat to the planet.
— Chris Hayes (@chrislhayes) June 30, 2022
Not allowing unelected bureaucrats in Washington, DC to have unchecked power is now a “threat to the planet”? Hey, you can’t argue with that kind of “science”!
LOL! Your devotion to your religion is admirable.

It’s really something else.
They told you to go make some laws but if you want to keep screaming at your phone that's fine too.
— mitrebox (@mitrebox) June 30, 2022
This Supreme Court is telling you to do your jobs!!!!!!
— gmg (@gobluesurf) June 30, 2022
And Warren, AOC and others don’t seem to appreciate that.
I'm sorry people will be able to vote on these things. Tough break.

A disdain for accountability is odd coming from the “we’re protecting democracy” crowd.
