PBS Newshour says 'free speech protections for reporters and their news orgs' are at stake in Sarah Palin's NYT defamation lawsuit

During closing arguments at Sarah Palin’s defamation trial, the New York Times’ attorney said that an editorial that linked Palin to the 2011 shooting in Tucson happened because an editor made an “honest mistake.” You can’t help but notice that so many media “mistakes” only fall in one direction, which means they’re not actually mistakes.

However, PBS Newshour is framing the story as if Sarah Palin’s lawsuit is a threat to free speech:

The media’s the victim here? What’s actually at stake is the media’s ability to help the Left forward false narratives.

Amazing, isn’t it?

The mainstream media would rather just be able to get away with saying “mistakes” were made after they get caught lying without actually being held accountable.
