CNN has named a new White House reporter focusing on national security issues:
We're excited to welcome Natasha Bertrand, who joins @CNN as a reporter today. She will cover the White House with a focus on national security.
— CNN Communications (@CNNPR) April 26, 2021
One thing’s for sure, many are convinced that the Democrats will like this announcement for future narrative reasons:
Oh perfect, if you wanted more people to trust the “news” this was not the way to do it! https://t.co/t2c89gFnBm

It’s like they are trying to be the worst news organization in the country. https://t.co/BwlNz13cC9

Here’s a thread on why the choice is perfect for CNN:
LOL. Perfect. https://t.co/IPDrEZdv5x

Arguably no single reporter has contributed more to the deranged and paranoid national security fantasies of the center-left than @NatashaBertrand. She's an embarrassment to her profession and will, therefore, fit right in at @CNN.

Her role in pushing the Steele Dossier – and how it advanced her career – has been ably documented by @ErikWemple here: https://t.co/wWs3wm5nj2

She was one of the progenitors of the "Russian disinfo" lie about Hunter Biden's laptop, and wrote this article, which is typical of her mealy-mouthed and dishonest craft. https://t.co/wQCmLx7StT
— Luke Thompson (@ltthompso) April 26, 2021
Just this week she was still defending the debunked Russian bounties story, which was obviously false from the get-go. https://t.co/qvkcWx012E
— Luke Thompson (@ltthompso) April 26, 2021
And even on mundane things, she sees conspiracies and perfidiousness around every corner. https://t.co/bB76GDtLID

In short, if you're a spook looking to get a lie into the liberal zeitgeist and @KenDilanianNBC is busy, your go-to shill is @NatashaBertrand. She's contributed mightily to the politicization of our intelligence community and damaged the reputation of journalism. Congrats @CNN.

I had actually forgotten about the @JohnRatcliffe debacle that her editors had to recant. https://t.co/JcEOtlVupw
— Luke Thompson (@ltthompso) April 26, 2021
And there’s the very real possibility she actually stole a freelancer’s work for a piece at @TheAtlantic. Anyway. Just a terrible person. https://t.co/1FqSU5PJza
— Luke Thompson (@ltthompso) April 26, 2021
The nicest possible spin you can put on Bertrand’s career is that she’s so stupid she gets routinely duped into printing the same untruths from the same sources. I suspect she knows she’s a liar and a shill, but it gets her on television.

CNN sure knows how to keep building their brand!
A national security reporter too naive or unwilling to challenge the information spoon-fed to her for those "bombshell" stories? Yeah, she'll continue failing upwards.

Zero accountability in journalism. As long as all of your mistakes go in the right direction.

“Mistakes” is said accompanied by the most exaggerated finger quotes possible.
