New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio made it known this week that he would temporarily suspend presidential campaigning in order to stay in his own city and keep watch during the heatwave. Could New Yorkers rest easy? Well, not really:

Update from MTA:
* Service is being restored on the numbered lines.
* They don’t think any trains lost power or AC during the outage.

Mayor de Blasio quickly stepped up and took responsibility. And by “took responsibility” we mean threw MTA officials under one of their own buses:
As reported, the MTA has suspended the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and Grand Central S trains in both directions due to a network communications issue. We have reached out for an ETA on when service will be restored.

This kind of meltdown during a heat wave is UNACCEPTABLE. The MTA owes every single New Yorker an explanation for this. We've known about this dangerous weather for DAYS. There’s no excuse for why they aren't prepared.
