'Such garbage'! CNN gets called OUT for 'purposely deceitful' headline about GOP lawmaker

If people don’t read beyond the headline, this story sounds equally bad for both lawmakers mentioned:

The House Ethics Committee admonished two male lawmakers — Republican Rep. Mark Meadows and Democratic Rep. Ruben Kihuen — related to investigations of alleged sexual harassment https://t.co/F5cLfiIP5E pic.twitter.com/bOUIVCoNo6

Something incredibly misleading was spotted:

CNN knows people will read the headline and assume Meadows is a assaulter now. Great job. https://t.co/0DZAEo7kAy

And that’s not the case.

CNN is such garbage.

Headline makes it sound like Meadows was a harasser. He was not.

Kihuen was a harraser, but CNN needed to soften the blow to the Democrats by including a Republican lawmaker in the story. https://t.co/tHKaWkIykq

CNN at it per usual with lying headlines. For those too lazy to read the article, Meadows didn’t harass anyone. https://t.co/l87fY3NQBm

You wouldn’t get that impression from their headline. We’ve come to expect nothing less from CNN.

This headline is misleading – so let me clear it up: Meadows never sexually harassed anyone. His former staffer did. I know, I am 1 of the women in the report. I respect the Ethics Cmte but my experience was that Meadows had my back, took me at my word, & respected & protected me https://t.co/domQmTsohf

THIS. Is CNN.

CNN worked very hard on the wording of this tweet to create the impression that Meadows himself was accused of sexual harassment (which is not the case) https://t.co/VXNbiyAmYC

What a purposely deceitful garbage headline. CNN wonders why everyone hates them…. https://t.co/p4xeS7CwvJ
