Many witnesses to the horrific shooting in Las Vegas that left at least 50 people dead and hundreds injured are sharing their stories this morning. One witness to the shooting praised police, saying that “every distraction that those cops gave that guy saved countless lives” and included this:
Witness on first responders: "In a world where everyone is kneeling, I saw hundreds of people standing up and running towards the danger." pic.twitter.com/GzSAG7sQc0
— Fox News (@FoxNews) October 2, 2017
The fact that the witness brought up the “kneeling” issue triggered a massive backlash with many blaming Fox News for reporting what the man who survived the shooting said:
That was quick. What a garbage thing to say. https://t.co/QnscQPJyv8

And here we go, Fox is already connecting this to protests against police brutality.
Absolutely disgusting. They have no shame. https://t.co/IZZwC0rlip

This is the most shameful and disgusting tweet I've seen outside of Trump's feed. https://t.co/osvnyinSps

FoxNews finds a way to bring division back to us even where Trump let it lay in a time of mourning https://t.co/dXcj3FKOIH

Leave it to Foxnews to make a classless statement like this.
— Dave (@hawksfan60) October 2, 2017
That’s just sickening to politicize this and tie it to the NFL.
— Mike Kuykendall (@geek_mojo) October 2, 2017
Let's not politicize this tragedy by talking about gun control. Instead, let's politicize it by criticizing the NFL!
— Steve (@cat_guy_steve) October 2, 2017
Point of order:
This wasn't Fox making this statement! It was an actual witness that SURVIVED bc of heroes running TOWARD danger! His own words!
— Shellie Neal (@shellieneal8) October 2, 2017
It’s clear that many did not appreciate that part of what the witness had to say.
