As we've been reporting, the White House is having fun with the pulling of press passes. President Donald Trump trolled CNN's Kaitlan Collins for being there to cover him at the United Nations, and Vice President JD Vance had some fun with CNN and POLITICO back in the White House briefing room.
Speaking of POLITICO, West Wing Playbook author Sophia Cai noted that Trump had made his first remarks without the TV pool on Tuesday, and there was nothing but static for nine minutes.
Trump made his first remarks without the TV pool and it is impossible to hear him through the White House feed. He is doing an unveiling of the new helipad just before Xi’s visit.

Nothing but static for 9 minutes and Trump is wheels up. pic.twitter.com/xpMqvA7SSJ
Viewers immediately noticed the difference.
So refreshing!

This is the best audio of any one of his events in years.

This is great news. I’d rather hear mumblings than CNN lying commentary

I thought you weren't going to report on the White House.
— SowellFood (@SowellFood) September 21, 2026
Guys … they’re still reporting while pretending they don’t have freedom of the press

You hate him when you hear him and you hate him when you don’t. It’s so funny 😂
— LG in AZ (@AzMenagerie) September 21, 2026
Well, then, there should be no problem because they misconstrue everything he says anyway
— Tami Byroads (@Tbyroads1) September 21, 2026
Sounds way better than CNN talking about it!

Americans are fine with this. You guys suck. 😅

And yet it was more valuable and informative than what the media puts out.

On the plus side, there was no one there that would later twist his words into something else.

Some activist organization somewhere is already filing a lawsuit to have the new helipad torn up.
The press has proven itself useless.
