We're not sure who conducted the poll, but CNN reported on Thursday that it indicated that 45 percent of Michanganders would not consider voting for a Muslim presidential candidate. Some pollster apparently believes that Abdul El-Sayed is going to run for the Democrats in 2028. Before turning the discussion over to her panel, CNN's Dana Bash added, "That's just gross." Hear that, Michigan? Bash puts nearly half of you in a basket of deplorables. It sounded later like she was going to say it was disgusting, but cut herself off and went with gross again.
CNN reacts to polling showing that 45% of Michigan voters don't want a Muslim Senator representing them in Washington:

She's instructing her viewers how to feel and what to say, or that's what I'm hearing.

They don’t want Islamic Ideology. I’m disappointed it’s only 45%.

This country is lost.
Come back in 400 years; by then we will tire of this and kick them out.
She has a right to be upset. Why is this percentage so low? It should be at least in the 70% opposition range.

America's citizens want someone who will represent them.
Not ISLAM. ISLAM is not compatible with our Constitutional Republic. It is dedicated to a theocracy.
What CNN doesn't understand is Michigan has had it with Muslims. We've endured them longer than anyone in this country and we want them gone.

What's gross? These are Michigan voters, can't they have an opinion

Do people not understand the word REPRESENTATION? As in, someone who represents the values and positions of their constituents.

What’s gross is allowing people who hate our country to hold government office so they can destroy us from within.

Did CNN just use "gross" to explain a poll? Real winners.

How many white Christians are in the governing bodies of the Middle East? Is that gross too Dana?
— Ray Bungap (@bungap_ray) September 17, 2026
That number should be 70% or more. Wow Michigan, wake the fuck up.

Serious journalism going on at CNN

"Gross" is a strange word choice for a so-called journalist. She could have said "surprising" or "shocking" if that's how she felt, but gross?
