Mahmoud Khalil Now Suing Columbia for Showing Indifference to Harassment of Pro-Hamas Students

Update: Mahmoud Khalil is still not deported.

This editor has asked before and will ask again: Who is bankrolling all of Khalil's legal battles? The man doesn't appear to have a job. He's a full-time activist. Way back in July 2025, we reported that the Hamas-supporting Columbia student agitator had filed a $20 million lawsuit against the Trump administration, claiming he was falsely imprisoned, maliciously prosecuted, and smeared as an antisemite. Generous guy that he is, Khalil said that instead of a payout, he'd accept an official apology from the government and the "abandonment of the administration's unconstitutional policy." As far as we know, he didn't get either one. This May, he said he was seeking a Supreme Court review of his deportation case. In July, Khalil announced that he had sued the Heritage Foundation, Stephen Miller, and others under the KKK Act. Just get the hell out, OK?

On Monday, Khalil announced yet another lawsuit, this one against Columbia University for showing "deliberate indifference" to the harassment of pro-Hamas agitators like himself. Yes, the guy who led building occupations and encampments where Jewish students were prevented from setting foot on campus and attending class is suing because he thinks that Columbia didn't show enough care for the pro-Hamas mob and the harassment that it was facing.

If you're a masochist, C-SPAN posted the video of his full 7-minute statement:

Again, just get out of our country.

ABC News' Aaron Katersky reports:

Khalil claims Columbia failed to respond to persistent and severe harassment those students allegedly encountered because of their advocacy, despite repeatedly asking Columbia administrators for help in the days and weeks preceding his March 2025 arrest by ICE agents.

As student protests continued into the Spring 2024 semester, the lawsuit said Columbia became "increasingly complicit in tolerating and fomenting a campus atmosphere that was rife with harassment," including surveillance, calling the NYPD to clear encampments, and mass disciplinary proceedings of those with Arab or Muslim ancestry.

Yes, the school (finally) called in the NYPD to clear those encampments. Sorry that Columbia finally had enough of a tent city being set up in the quad.

A bottomless repository of money for lawfare.

Yes. The Board of Immigration Appeals issued his final order of removal in April.

Again, we've never seen him work, although we did catch the Hamas supporter at Zohran Mamdani's victory party and again at Gracie Mansion, breaking his Ramadan fast with the mayor, who said that Khalil's past year had "been marked by profound hardship—and by profound courage."

Columbia let his Gaza Solidarity Encampment stand for two weeks.
