We put "comedian" in quotation marks in the headline because that's how Walter Masterson describes himself in his X bio. Masterson is a self-described progressive who says he's all for former NBA stars Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White signing up for the WNBA draft, but he has conditions. Masterson is a transphobe who asks the two women to "commit to the bit" by undergoing hormone replacement therapy for two to three years. We've been assured that trans women are women … who is Masterson to demand that they medically transition? Do they have to have surgery as well to be accepted as women?
As a progressive, I fully support Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White declaring themselves for the WNBA.

I only ask that they commit to the bit.
Medically transition. Take HRT, take blockers. Show us what your performance looks like when your body is at a deficit of both…
The post continues:
… testosterone and estrogen.
Do this for 2-3 years. Then show up to open tryouts and show us all how well you perform after gaining 30% in fat mass and losing 5% muscle mass.
Go ahead Enes and Royce, chemically transition, or STFU.
This is the first time we've heard trans women be told they have to medically transition for years before they can be considered women. We thought they were women to start with, and some chose to go on to undergo puberty blockers and hormone replacement.
Oh. I didn’t realize progressives believe men cannot be classified as women without 2-3 years of wrong-sex hormones. Weird how not even that requirement appears in a single progressive law or policy letting men into women’s prisons, abuse shelters, bathrooms, locker rooms. https://t.co/mEOaZgeHPM

He is also completely insensitive to the possibility that they might commit suicide if they are prevented from participating.

And just like that, a man needs more than his word to be a woman.

It’s kind of amazing that they are now trying to create a specific definition of what a trans person is all in order to avoid having a specific definition of what a biological woman is. https://t.co/1wNJlqUB5J

I don’t remember anyone demanding that, say, Lia Thomas “commit to the bit”
— George MF Washington (@GMFWashington) August 13, 2026
Now they're interested in definitions and proof instead of accepting what others tell them about who they are. Fascinating.

You’re gate keeping womanhood. None of this is necessary to be a woman. These are the rules. I didn’t make em.
— Jennifer Sey (@JenniferSey) August 13, 2026
You don't get to decide what it takes to be a woman. Every woman's lived experience is as valid as it is unique. Some women have beards. Some women have high levels of testosterone. Some women are 6'8 and dunk from the foul line. You're a bigot.
— indusium griseum (@indusiumgriseum) August 12, 2026
So, you're transphobic and a Nazi. You could have just said that.
— Jevin Gentry (@JevinGentry) August 12, 2026
Whoah whoah whoah. No law or regulation requires these brave women to conform their own journey to your bigoted preconceptions. How dare you. They will live their own truth their own way, you bigot. https://t.co/SK7UYvOLFq

They just want to live as their authentic selves.
Why? Modern transgender rhetoric holds that self-identification is the only metric that matters.

Do you agree with self-ID or not?
What a narcissist to think you can tell them what they need to do to feel like a woman
— 9twozero1 (@9twozero185829) August 12, 2026
This is so painfully transphobic.
— Brittany Hughes (@RealBrittHughes) August 13, 2026
It sounds to us like Masterson doesn't believe that Freedom and White would be "real" women even after three years of hormone therapy. It would still be just a "bit." How many years of medical transitioning does it take for a trans woman to be accepted for who she is?
