I started writing for Twitchy in June of 2012, and back then, The Drudge Report was still a thing and would occasionally pick up one of our posts. "You've been Drudged!" we'd celebrate, because that meant huge traffic. One of the first times I remember us being Drudged was when we wrote a post about all of the people slamming Independence Day, including Chris Rock. He's more famous now for being slapped at the Oscars by Will Smith, but he made headlines in 2012 with this tweet:
Happy white peoples independence day the slaves weren't free but I'm sure they enjoyed fireworks
— Chris Rock (@chrisrock) July 4, 2012
The descendants of slaves can still celebrate being born into the greatest nation on earth. I've already seen some groups like Al Sharpton's outfit declaring that they're going to coordinate an "alternative" holiday as America celebrates its 250th birthday.
Nobody would have noticed since we're talking about the WNBA, but player Brianna Turner is opposed to wearing the USA 250 patches that have been made up for the teams' uniforms.

Turner posted:
The irony of all the USA 250 stuff is that the vast majority of people in America today would not have been “free” 250 years ago 🥲🫠

Whoever called for the WNBA all star uniforms to have the USA 250 patch should have thought that through considering no WNBA players would have been free 250 years ago. The majority wouldn't even have their freedom 100 years ago.
The majority of WNBA players wouldn't even have had their freedom 100 years ago?
Yet here you are, free to play ball for a living, free to complain about being free, free to hate everything including yourself.

I don’t think she knows what “vast majority” means. Math and stuff.
— Leevon Grant (@LeevonGrant) June 8, 2026
I would say we should all stop watching WNBA games because of this, but...
— Rep. Chris Hemsworse (@GodofBlunder247) June 8, 2026
Yep, everyone should hate the country that gave them the opportunity to become millionaires.
— Damon Parker (@DamonParker1) June 8, 2026
Patriots famously do that.
Thirty-one years ago, there were no WNBA players.
I am among the billions that don’t care what she does.

I'm fine if she wants to make a political statement and not wear the patch. I wasn't thrilled with NBA players taking a knee during the anthem, but again, this is the WNBA, and no one is going to see it.
Dang I was just thinking about starting to watch woman pretending to play basketball.

Oh well.
