I suppose this is better than men infiltrating women's shelters, but it's still amazing to me how transgender people can claim they're the most oppressed when a city like New York will bend over backward to build a trans-only homeless shelter. I thought if Zohran Mamdani won, he was going to turn the subways into homeless shelters, but those might not be safe for trans folk.
Listen to this:
A trans-only homeless shelter with yoga? Only $65 million of tax payer money went to this place. What a great deal! pic.twitter.com/DjrGCAjSUW

I thought that claim was a little dubious, so I did some checking on Ace's Place, and it's real, and it really did cost $65 million. As the woman says in the video, this came from a legal settlement by the city in a lawsuit that was filed back in 2017. Mariah Lopez, a Black and Latinx (that's what Grok gave me) transgender woman with disabilities — wow, that's really high on the intersectionality scale — alleged "severe discrimination, harassment, and abuse in the city's shelter system based on her transgender status and sex." She was even misgendered by staff.
Ace's Place opened in August 2025 and fulfilled the conditions of New York City's settlement.
Wonderful they could do it so affordably

That's apparently not the construction cost alone. New York City has made a $65 million commitment through 2030 for the nonprofit Destination Tomorrow to operate the facility.
If this keeps mentally ill men away from vulnerable women then I support it. Trans has a tendency to not want to be in “trans only” spaces-they’d rather be with women.

Homeless veterans should claim they identify as trans. The place looks pretty nice.
It will be useless because 80% of “trans people” only want to be trans if that means they can be in women’s spaces. They don’t want their own shelter they want to be able to be alone and isolated with the women in THEIR shelter. This was just a typical Democrat money laundering…

Yep. If you're a man who identifies as a woman, you're going to want to stay in a women's shelter.
Lopez’s grift needs to be studied as this is top tier grifting

Mariah Lopez, executive director of the "Strategic Transgender Alliance for Radical Reform."
Unreal. Democrats in NYC built a homeless shelter with millions of tax dollars but it’s only for trans people.

How is this legal??? @HarmeetKDhillon https://t.co/FvEmGGhZFx
That's clearly not legal

New York City Human Rights Law, Title 8 of the New York City Administrative Code § 8-107(4): Prohibits discrimination in "public accommodations" (which includes homeless shelters) on the basis of gender, actual or perceived. pic.twitter.com/Gw2ixSD389
Allocating millions in tax dollars for a shelter exclusive to one group raises serious questions about equality and fairness. Isn't a free society supposed to help everyone, not just select identities?
— Doge Unhinged (@dogeunhinged) November 4, 2025
To be fair if it keeps them out of women’s homeless shelters I’m ok with that if women shelters have the same facilities of course
— Murnettie (@Murnettie) November 4, 2025
How is this legal?
— Planet Of Memes (@PlanetOfMemes) November 4, 2025
IDK - I would be fine with it, if it were accompanied by a ban on trans-identifying men in women's shelters. But you KNOW New York will give them this AND let the men with fetishes choose the women's shelter instead if it gives them a stiffy.

This won't satisfy the trans community, the most oppressed community in America. They can never be accomodated enough.
