I've done quite a few posts on Rep. Jasmine Crockett recently, as it looks like she's trying hard to become the face of the Democrat Party — which is fine with me. When I'm scanning through replies to her posts, there are two phrases I come across again and again: "ghetto" and "hood rat."
I tend to stay away from those posts as I don't want to be called racist and I want the site to be kept from being called racist — Facebook would throttle us even more then.
Some people call Crockett the dumbest member of Congress, but I don't think she's dumb at all — I think she's savvy. She's building a brand, and a lot of people online are reacting positively to it. Remember when she introduced her Crockett Clapback line of T-shirts featuring the name she's come up with for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene: "Bleach Blonde Bad Built Butch Body." That was her reaction to an altercation with Greene in which Greene brought up her fake eyelashes, so she started it. But what's with those fake eyelashes?
I said in an earlier VIP column that I wish members of Congress could act like it. There's been a big jump in profanity in posts coming from members of Congress, all memorialized in the Congressional Record.
I saw this last night but didn't post on it … I wasn't sure I wanted to give Crockett the oxygen. But, in the style of all of those dancing nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic, Crockett posted a dance video a a prelude to President Trump's speech.

Remember, this is the woman who celebrated Women's History Month by posting a comic book with her as the hero? "My story is Unleashing Black Girl Magic: The Superpower Within!" She certainly thinks highly of herself.
I'm Gen X. Congress seems to be populated entirely by crusty old Boomers like Nancy Pelosi and the new crop of Democrats, the Millennials like Crockett and AOC and Maxwell Frost. Couldn't we get some qualified people my age in there? Ones who remember class?
In short, I wouldn't call Crockett "ghetto trash," but it's not for a lack of desire to do so. Just to balance it out racially, here's "mediocre white boy" and DNC chair Ken Martin making a fool of himself for TitTok.
