Idaho Bar Offers Specials for 'Heterosexual Awesomeness Month'

It's a shame, because I really like Chris Evans as Captain America in all the Marvel films. But back in 2019, when three guys in Boston applied for a permit to hold a “Straight Pride” parade and asked to fly the Straight Pride flag over city hall, Evans attributed the effort to latent homosexuality. His account no longer exists, but his tweet read:

Wow! Cool initiative, fellas!! Just a thought, instead of ‘Straight Pride’ parade, how about this: The ‘desperately trying to bury our own gay thoughts by being homophobic because no one taught us how to access our emotions as children’ parade? Whatta ya think? Too on the nose??

According to the ADL, the phrase "It's OK to be white" is racist and has been co-opted by white supremacist groups. And "straight pride" is obviously homophobic. It couldn't just be a reaction to the LGBTQ community getting an entire month dedicated to celebrating them. Even "Sesame Street" celebrates Pride Month:

"Today and every day, we celebrate and uplift the LGBTQIA+ members of our community." Why? Why are we celebrating and uplifting a small minority of people just because of their sexual orientation? Hey, you're gay, congratulations.

I admire this guy because I can only imagine the backlash. His bar in Idaho is celebrating "Heterosexual Awesomeness Month."

I'm surprised Antifa's Idaho chapter hasn't burned the place down yet.

This shouldn't be controversial. But the reason elementary school teachers want to discuss sexual orientation and gender identity is to get to them before they become "cisnormative" — that is, thinking that men are men and women are women is "normal."

As I said, I admire the guy. I can't imagine the hate he's going to get.

That said, I don't think we need a Pride Month either. A whole month?

Criticism:

Marginalized how? All we talk about is the LGBTQ community. And the pride flag has more protections than the American flag. Who would make a joke out of Pride Month, when naked men in body paint ride bicycles through the street in front of little children to express their pride? Dildo ring toss for the kids! Drag makeovers for your kids!

Marginalized. The president hosts a huge Pride Month celebration at the White House.
