As Twitchy reported earlier, Justice Neil Gorsuch went into beast mode over pandemic restrictions in an opinion on Arizona, et al. v. Mayorkas, saying that the COVID-19 restrictions were possibly “the greatest intrusion on civil liberties in the peacetime history of this country.” Supreme Court expert Ian Millhauser reminded us of all the times Democrats cracked down on civil liberties, such as slavery and Jim Crow. The pandemic lockdowns affected everyone, though.
Zach Wolfe thinks Gorsuch is full of it and assures us that at no time did he feel like his civil liberties were infringed.
Gorsuch understands we all lived through it and know this is bullshit, right? pic.twitter.com/MUTBfgBxZd

I mean, not once during the pandemic did I feel like my civil liberties were infringed, not even a little.
— Zach Wolfe (@zachwolfelaw) May 20, 2023
Good for you.
And this great civil libertarian is the same guy who voted to uphold Trump’s thinly-veiled Muslim ban. Give me a break.

The ban on countries designated by the Obama administration?
Lots of other asskissing Democrats agree with your dumb ass.

Do you somehow not understand that your personal experience doesn’t apply to everyone else, such as my friend who had to say goodbye to his mother through a window?

It is truly and utterly astounding how absolutely blatant certain current Justices are about the the simple fact that their jurisprudence boils down to “yeah man, but my feelz”.
— BackCountry Law (@backcountrylaw1) May 20, 2023
That doesn't mean your civil liberties weren't being infringed. It just means you aren't smart enough to recognize it.
— Eric Spencer (@JustEric) May 20, 2023
So, nothing matters unless you are personally impacted. Got it. Nevermind the thousands of people who got fired for not taking a vax that didn't even prevent spread, or lost their businesses, or who died alone, and on and on.

The violation of civil liberties is not so much a matter of one’s feelings. It’s an objective fact. In describing it as a matter of feelings, you are really saying that you found the infringements acceptable. Many of us did not.

A colleague’s child died. She couldn’t go to the hospital when her child passed or have a funeral. Consider yourself blessed, keyboard fella.

Being told you could not go to your house of worship infringed on civil liberties. Being told you couldn't gather with those outside your household infringed on your civil liberties.
You could argue that it was worth the health tradeoff, but it was still an infringement.

BECAUSE YOU LIVE IN TX. Here in MN, there was a state hotline so my neighbors cd report me if they suspected I had anyone inside my home. I was subject to an ACLU-opposed curfew that prevented me from walking my dog after 7pm. Hmmm, I wonder what the diff is between our 2 states?

Sure. You were in the protected "laptop class" with serfs bringing you food and supplying you with whatever you needed or wanted.

In the opinion after the part you quote, there are several paragraphs which go into details, all footnoted to evidence submitted to the court and original documents.
It's a legal analysis, and your feelings have not much, if anything to do with, how appellate litigation works.

Guess your kid didn't lose her job due to lockdowns and your church wasn't closed down and you weren't threatened with arrest if you were out after curfew…all of which happened here in CA.

I guess you never had to cremate your daughter by yourself, or have to beg the hospital to allow your sister to be there for just an ounce of emotional support. Lucky you.

Remember when they filled in skate parks with sand, arrested a guy out surfing in the ocean, and then chased a guy who was the only person on the beach?
Oh yeah, then they and forced the military to get vaccinated?
Good times, those intrusion-free civil liberties… good times.

During covid we banned immigration from all countries. Do immigration bans only infringe on civil liberties when Republicans do it?
Did Title 42 infringe on anyone's civil liberties? Or maybe it's a fine policy because it didn't infringe on your civil liberties personally?
— Daniela (@daniela127) May 20, 2023
There was never a “Muslim ban”. Never once.
There was a short halt on travel to the US from countries known to harbor terrorists.
During that period, many Muslims traveled to and front he US from other countries.
You’re a liar. And you know it.
— RespectfullyDisagree (@RDisagree) May 20, 2023
What Muslim ban?
— Jones S Hamilton (@PearlRiverSwamp) May 20, 2023
There are over 100 countries on earth with large Muslim populations. Trump wanted a travel ban from 6 of them.
— NotYngwie (@NotYngwie) May 20, 2023
Dude, you just can't not lie.
His "Muslim Ban" was temporary travel restrictions of a few countries created off of intel gathered from the Obama administration.Where were you when Obama had similar restrictions?
Tell me you're in a cult without saying you're in a cult.
— george (@georgestweeter) May 20, 2023
Hi Zach,
Quick question.
Since you believe a Muslim ban was a real thing – can you explain why the two most populated Muslim countries weren't on the list of banned countries?
I'll wait.
Thanks!
— ThickenParm (@msmHypocrisy) May 20, 2023
You voted for a all Europe ban. Give me a break
— Vanilla Sky (@Vanillasky8788) May 20, 2023
Wolfe didn’t “feel” like his civil liberties were infringed, even though they most definitely were. So Gorsuch is obviously wrong.
