WaPo reporter says that Sen. John Fetterman 'quote' was provided by his office

A lot of people on Twitter are continually trying to tell us we don’t hate the mainstream media enough. As bad as they are, they’re unrepentant and never seem to look into a mirror to find out why public trust in the media has cratered.

A lot of people call reporters transcriptionists for the Democratic Party, and in this case, that’s literally true. As we reported Tuesday, Sen. John Fetterman was back in a suit and back on the job:

As we reported earlier, Washington Post reporter Jeff Stein deleted a tweet quoting Fetterman at the hearing:

But wait, he can explain! He wasn’t at the hearing, Fetterman’s office provided him the “quote,” and he never bothered checking the press office’s transcription against the video which was readily available online. As we said, transcriptionist.

“Though it captured his meaning”? “Some of the words” were inaccurate? They’re not even close.

A lot of us are concerned about the inner workings of his mind, and whether they mesh with the job of being a senator. Did Stein at least approach Fetterman’s office to ask for a quote, or did they just send it to his inbox? How much effort did he put in, exactly?
