Rep. Jim Banks nails Miguel Cardona over schools banning biological males from girls' sports

I started listening to Rush Limbaugh around 1994. I remember the subject at the time was Democrats busing schoolchildren to stand on the Capitol steps and beg Republicans not to take away their school lunches. It was a stunt, and not a very good one, but exploitative of the kids. Democrats have often leveraged school lunches; remember that first lady Michelle Obama even had a part in remaking school lunches that didn’t have enough calories to keep student-athletes alive. Many public schools now offer free breakfasts and free lunches during summer break, assuming that parents can’t afford a bowl of cereal and children would starve without school-provided meals.

So it was nice to see that table turned by Republican Rep. Jim Banks, who asked Education Secretary Miguel Cardona if he supported taking away school lunches from schools that didn’t allow biological males on girls’ sports teams. As you know, the Biden administration is all-in on transgender rights, and President Joe Biden recently said he’d veto the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act if it reached his desk.

It was a great way of framing the administration’s threat to defund schools that didn’t allow biological males on girls’ teams. Cardona didn’t have an answer to the yes-or-no question.

No one in the Biden administration should be proud of the work they’re doing. They’re all terrible from top to bottom.

Democrats are 100 percent behind the teachers’ unions and their constant push for more federal funds to keep public schools “competitive” with private schools. But they’d defund a public school over this? Maybe some states don’t want 18-year-old biological males hopping in the school showers with a bunch of 14-year-old girls.
