New York Times gives John Fetterman a hand, publishes piece about stroke survivors and their ability to heal

We’ve been hearing a lot about “ableism” recently, ever since that NBC News interview with John Fetterman that was conducted via closed captioning because he was having trouble understanding the spoken word. Did that disqualify him to be a senator? Of course not … what about senators who wear glasses? They’re using assistive technology to allow them to do their jobs. Are you going to ban glasses from the Capitol?

People are (rightfully) worried about Fetterman’s mental capacity. He didn’t even speak when President Joe Biden flew into Pittsburgh to headline a campaign rally. (Fetterman’s wife, Gisele, told the press that Biden’s visit was a “celebration” and not an opportunity for interviews.)

This editor is pretty sure Fetterman is going to win Pennsylvania (even after tonight’s debate), but there sure are a lot of people joining in to drag him across the finish line. The New York Times just happens to have a piece today by a neuroscientist who tells us all about the brain’s ability to heal. Fetterman has said that he’ll be fine by January. Will he?

It sounds like he should take time to recover and not enter into the stress that comes with being a senator. Isn’t that the compassionate thing to do?
