As Twitchy reported in 2020, Target briefly removed Abigail Shrier’s “Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze That’s Seducing Our Daughters” from its book selection after someone complained in a tweet. Shrier was even linked to the Buffalo mass shooter in Rolling Stone (thanks to the infamous Talia Lavin). People do not want to hear that peer pressure might be convincing some girls that they’re boys.
This June, President Joe Biden signed an executive order on advancing equality for LGBTQ individuals, showing the administration’s support for “gender-affirming” care and calling out “conversion therapy”:
My Administration must safeguard LGBTQI+ youth from dangerous practices like so-called “conversion therapy” — efforts to suppress or change an individual’s sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression — a discredited practice that research indicates can cause significant harm, including higher rates of suicide-related thoughts and behaviors by LGBTQI+ youth.
An account called Right Wing Cope has highlighted a mother who decided she wasn’t going to “affirm” her daughter’s new gender and drawn a lot of hate her way.
