CBS News' Major Garrett writes that the 2020 election was 'the greatest success of American democracy in history'

As Twitchy reported Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre didn’t have much to say when Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked her about her own election denialism, which can be found in her old tweets. “I’m not going to go back to where we were,” she said. “I’m focused on the here and now.” Yes, but was the 2016 election stolen as you said?

We’ve all been assured that Donald Trump’s questions about election shenanigans in 2020 don’t compare in any way to Democrats saying the 2000, 2004, and 2016 elections were all stolen. Those Democrats, some of whom sit on the January 6 select committee, were just raising legitimate questions about voter suppression and rigged voting machines. As recently as 2018, Stacey Abrams claimed the Georgia gubernatorial election was stolen from her through voter suppression, even though voter turnout was the highest it had ever been.

But whatever shenanigans cost Abrams her election in 2018 were all eliminated in time for the 2020 presidential election, which was “the greatest success of American democracy in history.” That’s according to CBS News White House correspondent Major Garrett, who has a book to sell.

So all of those concerns about voter suppression and gerrymandering were addressed by 2020? That’s great news.

It wasn’t stolen, it was “fortified.”

You’d think a White House correspondent would be more concerned about the FBI and big tech working together to, say, suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story in October, preventing people from sharing it, and then having former intelligence officials insist it was Russian disinformation. How does that factor into the greatest success in history?

And then, after Joe Biden was inaugurated, DHS created a Disinformation Governance Board led by a woman who called the Hunter Biden story “a fairy tale about a laptop repair shop” to oversee online “disinformation.” They’re already trying to “fortify” the 2024 election.
