This is as bad as Rep. Ilhan Omar saying that “some people did something” on 9/11. This got lost earlier this week in the wake of President Biden’s cancellation of student loan debt, but it deserves attention. The whole Afghanistan debacle deserves attention on its anniversary, but the Washington Post is checking in on U.S. troops who survived something called the “Kabul airport disaster.”
For U.S. troops who survived the Kabul airport disaster a year ago, guilt and grief endure
A powerful @DanLamothe piece:https://t.co/Bh6HjFgxsc

They’re seriously calling it the Kabul airport disaster.
Matea, what was the disaster? Like a fuel spill or an earthquake? Help us all out here.

Was luggage misplaced or something?
— Denny (@Dhmcgrath77) August 27, 2022
Was there a plane crash?
— Just Matt (@TheMattRTR) August 27, 2022
Was it a landslide or something?
— Foster (@foster_type) August 27, 2022
Disaster? Was there a tsunami?

The Kabul “airport disaster”? Really? That’s how you’re framing it? What a hack you are.

Did a shuttle bus crash?
— Chris (@ChrisMears00) August 27, 2022
Oh it was a disaster all right. Can you tell us what happened to cause this disaster?
— Sinner Saved by Grace (@redeemed_St) August 27, 2022
Ah, just an unfortunate act of God, like a tornado, or Airport ‘77.

Wow – that’s some gloss, Matea.

I know there is a character limit on Twitter but still; you're a national editor for WaPo, do you think this is the most accurate way to characterize what happened in Kabul?

Come on y’all. She didn’t write the headline.
She just tweeted it out, word for word.

No guilt and grief in the administration that caused the disaster.
— Ryan Erickson.lua (@RyanBErickson) August 27, 2022
But for Biden, no accountability and it is forgotten.

Interesting timing for this piece. Almost as if you have an agenda.

— G (@stevensongs) August 27, 2022
Holy shit, did you really just call the negligent death of 13 service members an "airport disaster?" 😳
— Big_A (@asomer) August 27, 2022
More than once. Was the suicide bomber an “austere religious scholar”?
For this alone Biden should be impeached. Gross incompetence, lying, and a hideous evacuation that rivaled what happened in Saigon in 1975. And NOT ONE General resigned in protest. Tells you A LOT about the Pentagon leadership of today. Swine. pic.twitter.com/uWpuOAqbhu
