'Transgender State of Refuge' bill advances to Assembly floor in California to help families with trans kids

We’ve written about California State Sen. Scott Wiener before. In 2020, he introduced a bill that would lower the penalties for adults who have sex with willing same-sex minors and give judges greater leeway over who is deemed a sexual predator. This June, after reading about proposed legislation to prohibit minors at drag shows, he suggested offering Drag Queen 101 as part of the K-12 curriculum. He also wanted to lower the age of consent for the COVID vaccine so 12-year-olds could get it without their parents knowing.

Wiener’s back with more legislation. California’s “Transgender State of Refuge” bill would ensure families with transgender kids could come to California and get the healthcare they need.
