Rep. Dave Cicilline says the idea that anyone's suggesting abortion up to the moment of birth is 'deeply offensive'

As Twitchy reported, the House Oversight Committee is holding hearings today on abortion access and hearing expert witness testimony that abortion is “an act of self-love.” Democratic Rep. Dave Cicilline found it “deeply offensive” and absurd for anyone to believe that abortion should happen up until the moment of birth.

That’s funny, because as we reported back in February, a bill that would have legalized abortion up until birth across the country won the vote of every Democrat in the House except one; every Democrat in the Senate with the exception of Sen. Joe Manchin voted for it. But please, Mr. Democrat, tell us how absurd and offensive it is to suggest that abortion be legal up until birth.

He voted for a law that would have allowed it.

NPR has a piece on Wednesday on the few clinics that do perform late-term abortions; “Since Senate Bill 8 (SB 8) went into effect in Texas last year, restricting abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, the clinic has gone from seeing about 40 patients per week to more than 100. Almost all of those patients are in the second or third trimester.”

NPR also reports that abortions at any point in pregnancy are legal in Alaska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Colorado, Vermont, and Oregon, plus the District of Columbia.

But Cicilline is “deeply offended” that anyone would suggest it happens.
