You might be sick of posts about transgender University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas, but this tweet is interesting because we get to hear from Lia herself … and all of the hormone therapy doesn’t seem to have affected her voice. Congrats to TODAY for acknowledging that some female swimmers and their parents don’t think it’s fair that they’re competing against a biological male who’s breaking all the records. TODAY also mentions that Thomas swam for three seasons on the men’s team but doesn’t mention her standing on that team.
Lia Thomas, a swimmer from the University of Pennsylvania, will compete to become the first Division 1 openly transgender athlete to be crowned a national champion. @ReporterBlayne reports. pic.twitter.com/LahSBHZj4w

You can tell from the smile on Blayne Alexander’s face that she’s buying into it 100 percent.
Reporter grinning like a buffoon about records possibly being shattered sums up the absurdity in a way she doesn't realize. https://t.co/YIEAjfYcUe

I am sorry, but this should not be allowed.

This is so wrong.

This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen or heard. This is not ok.

Why does the Today Show not support female athletes? This is so sad to see.

Completely unfair for cisgender women and Lia knows it.
— Ale (@alelabril) March 17, 2022
Since it's clear that Lia has no physical advantage, why don't we just drop swimming competition by sex? Just make it open so men and women can compete equally against each other?

As we reported just yesterday, NBC News did a story on the long history of “gender policing” female athletes, which follows up their story claiming that there’s “little scientific evidence” that biological males have an advantage in women’s sports.
Anyone who supports this type of unfair competition is straight up wrong.
Nothing to do with discrimination. Everything to do with an even playing field.
Shockingly dumb, and women need to stand up for their rights.

Lia is a male. Lia has a biological and physiological advantage over the female athletes. Because of Lia’s white male privilege the female athletes are being told to suck it up bc Lia’s need for validation of Lia’s gender dysphoria is more important than their right to fairness.

I will NEVER have ANY respect for @hodakotb again! Thomas being embraced as some kind of hero for forcing himself into women’s locker rooms AND stealing women’s swimming titles is INSANE! Reality MATTERS.

You should probably be sitting down before you read this shocker:
