Deadspin adds editor's note clarifying that 'young, white guy' Mike McDaniel is actually biracial

This is where race-baiting gets you. Outkick reports that “sports” site Deadspin published an article this weekend discouraging NFL teams from hiring San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator and white guy Mike McDaniel. The headline argued that McDaniel isn’t yet worthy of a head coaching gig, but it was the subhead that got attention: “Please stop and think before you inadvertently dub another young, white guy as the next hot NFL coaching prospect.” Young, white guys, right?

Deadspin published an article warning NFL teams that they better not hire Mike McDaniel because he’s a "white guy."

The editor’s note reads:

We learned after the publication of this article that 49ers OC Mike McDaniel, whom we describe as a “white guy,” is in fact biracial. The article’s original text remains below. We regret the error.

Outkick adds:

The first step to proper race-baiting is getting the skin colors of the subjects right. Deadspin missed that step. McDaniel is biracial, not a dangerous creature known as a “white man.”

What’s more, Deadspin recently published its annual list called “Idiots of the Year,” this time calling Sage Steele the “black Candace Owens.”
