Fact-checkers clear up satirical screenshot of boss instructing employees to wear masks on a Zoom call

As Twitchy reported, PolitiFact stepped up and fact-checked liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor after she spread some glaring falsehoods about COVID, such as there being 100,000 children in serious condition with the coronavirus, with many on ventilators. We were hoping some fact-checkers were going to intervene during Insurrection Week to set people straight on just how many police officers had been killed on January 6 protecting the Capitol, but we haven’t seen any.

Instead, the Associated Press and others were concerned about a screenshot being passed around purportedly showing an email from a boss telling his employees to wear masks on a Zoom call. Twitter even made it a trending topic:

Biden too:

… and Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources.

“Also, wear your mask, even if you are home, to participate in a virtual meeting that involves being seen — such as on Zoom or another video-conferencing platform — by non-DNR staff,” Preston Cole said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Set the safety example which shows you as a DNR public service employee care about the safety and health of others.”

Always look at what the fact-checkers choose to “debunk” and what they let slide.
