As Twitchy reported, PolitiFact stepped up and fact-checked liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor after she spread some glaring falsehoods about COVID, such as there being 100,000 children in serious condition with the coronavirus, with many on ventilators. We were hoping some fact-checkers were going to intervene during Insurrection Week to set people straight on just how many police officers had been killed on January 6 protecting the Capitol, but we haven’t seen any.
Instead, the Associated Press and others were concerned about a screenshot being passed around purportedly showing an email from a boss telling his employees to wear masks on a Zoom call. Twitter even made it a trending topic:
Here’s the AP:
Social media users are sharing a screenshot purporting to show an email from a boss instructing workers to wear a mask on Zoom meetings. But the image was from a TikTok account labeled as "satire." https://t.co/aNGw9QzOaZ

Lol how is this news
— Bianca (@biancabites) January 8, 2022
Sorry to burst the AP bubble but requesting masks on Zoom calls actually happens. They think they are "setting an example". Just like Biden wearing a mask with Jill alone on a beach.
— Geldner *️⃣ (@Geldner) January 8, 2022
🙄 Being asked to wear a mask for a Zoom meeting is real idiocy; I’ve experienced it.

But #Macron on a video conference with a mask isn’t satire. pic.twitter.com/PPfjoY5DLv

“Also, wear your mask, even if you are home, to participate in a virtual meeting that involves being seen — such as on Zoom or another video-conferencing platform — by non-DNR staff,” Preston Cole said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Set the safety example which shows you as a DNR public service employee care about the safety and health of others.”
Wow these fact checkers – who are they?

Sweet gig, right?

Really earning those checks

This is what the AP news is spending its time and money on.
— quitebrazen.eth (@QuiteBrazen) January 8, 2022
And you're so threatened you have to "fact check" it?

Thank god for these tools, what we would do without you.

Keep fact checking the important stuff like this. You’re not a complete joke at all.
— Demand can be a force majeure (@filthyanalyst) January 8, 2022
Nobody has a sense of humor anymore.
Is that caused by over-use of masks?
— TypsyGypsyDance (@TypsyGypsyDance) January 8, 2022
What’s important is that people still laughed.
It was funny, move on.

Always look at what the fact-checkers choose to “debunk” and what they let slide.
