It’s no secret that all of the newspapers in Florida have it in for Gov. Ron DeSantis. There must have been some reason Tampa Bay Times reporter Lawrence Mower pointed out that DeSantis has taken to using “the jab” as a stand-in for “vaccine.”
So apparently @GovRonDeSantis has stopped saying the word "vaccine." During a press conference against vaccine mandates, he keeps referring to it as "the jab."
Other speakers are also referring to it as "the jab."

More sinister

Anything to make it sound scary or sinister. 🙄 It's a piece of cake. Now, ventilators are scary.

Makes it less scientific/medical, emphases the physical pain.

The governor of the third most populous state in the US is now attempting to scare monger about the vaccine for political points. How many more need to die for the DeSantis Death Drive? https://t.co/DPabciBP4v

Why is this not illegal?

It also caught the attention of Ron Filipkowski:
If someone in the FL press corps is ever allowed to ask him a question again, can you ask him why he stopped using the word “vaccine” a month ago and now just says “these jabs” or “shots.” It may seem to like a small thing, but it’s very important signal to anti-vaccers. Because a vaccine is medicine
A “jab” or “shot” reframes as an invasion of personal space
It’s deliberate dog-whistling to anti-vaxers https://t.co/385R73USK8

It is, huh? Better keep an eye out then; that dog-whistle is everywhere:

It’s a therapeutic. Shot. Jab. Whatever. But it’s certainly not a vaccine which provides a permanent barrier to infection, nor does it stop spread. https://t.co/vTUUq6IHVm

What’s your call? Is DeSantis calling it “the jab” a dog-whistle for anti-vaxxers, or just a way to make it sound more sinister and keep people from getting it?
