This rush by Washington Post editor to blame Trump for Jussie Smollett attack did not age well

We’ve done a bunch of threads compiling tweets (or screenshots of deleted tweets) where politicians, celebrities, and journalists raced to condemn the racist and homophobic attack on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett. We’ve also seen CNN’s Brian Stelter trying to rewrite history, claiming that the alleged attack was marked by “really careful reporting by news organizations.”

One tweet that’s resurfaced Monday is this gem by the Washington Post’s global opinion editor:

Funny, we haven’t heard much recently about those “thugs screaming MAGA” since those two brothers of Nigerian descent were questioned.

We do agree, though, that lives have been increasingly at stake since 2015 … just ask Rep. Steve Scalise, who was shot by a nut who opened fire on a Republican baseball team.
