A lot of people have been weighing in on Mitt Romney’s op-ed in the Washington Post criticizing President Trump’s character (which of course the retiring Jeff Flake loved), and The Resurgent’s Erick Erickson stepped up to bat for Romney in replying to radio host Kevin McCullough:
The outrage over Romney's op-ed from Trump supporters is disproportionate to what he said, which is that Trump has bad character. That's something they all agree with privately, which is probably why they're so outraged.

Says another most proficient #NeverTrumper. @EWErickson, Romney’s rotating hypocrisy seeking Trump’s help, and then dumping on him is the much bigger problem. And you KNOW this! https://t.co/gPRXeK4WiF

Yeah, he seemed perfectly fine with Trump when he was running for Senator.
Actually, I think they are two sides of the same coin. One gladly campaigns with Trump before criticizing him. The others publicly praise Trump and privately condemn him. The GOP is riddled with hypocrisy and led by an amoral man all surrounded by sycophants. https://t.co/eiR2tPBwZ4

And don’t discount the woke “conservatives” like Max Boot who literally told people to vote against Romney and vote a straight Democrat ticket in the midterms to “save” the GOP.
But the story here today is Romney had the audacity to say publicly what so many of the President's sycophants say privately and the people who say we can only judge Trump by his actions are attacking Romney for his words.

Well, and the timing of his words, let’s face it:
Trump is president. He's not above criticism but this incessant navel gazing is so incredibly worthless.

And, frankly, it’s not like the Washington Post doesn’t already have two “conservative” columnists on staff who do nothing but criticize the president.
He didn’t just say it. He announced it. He trumpeted it. He declared it. Like the holier-than-thou that he apparently is. Why is he even in the senate?

Well, to be fair, we're also judging #Romney by his actions – he makes committed carpetbaggers look good…

Maybe Romney should have turned down Trump’s assistance during his campaign, seeing as he didn’t need it.
Does anyone really think Romney would have lost Utah, but for Trump? Seriously? I mean Utah went +48R in 2012 with Romney on the ballot to +12R with Trump, giving Evan McMullian over 20% (!!!) of its vote.

Romney thought it was important to distance himself from his anti-Trump talk…why did he do that?

How did Mia Love do in +48 Utah?
