Newsweek: President Trump 'reportedly' was impatient for the Bush memorials to end

As Twitchy has reported, mainstream media outlets like CNN and MSNBC beclowned themselves with their coverage of the memorial services for former President George H.W. Bush, paying more attention to President Trump’s body language than to George W. Bush’s eulogy for his father.

Newsweek has stepped up with a late entry — we’re not sure why it took them so long to copy a paragraph from another news outlet — telling how Trump was “impatient” for the memorials to end because they weren’t about him.

We see “impatient” and “civil” are in quotes, so to whom should we attribute them? Newsweek’s Jessica Kwong reports that close aids spoke of Trump’s impatience, but Newsweek’s actual source for its story is the New York Times:

“Mr. Trump has been snappish with aides most of the week, according to administration officials, miffed in part by so many ceremonial events not related to him,” The New York Times reported on Wednesday. “He was impatient for the memorials to end but expressed pride in himself for remaining publicly civil. People close to the president called it a course correction after his peevish reaction to Mr. McCain’s death.”

So Newsweek’s source is the New York Times, whose source was administration officials who said the president had been “snappish with aides.”

We’re convinced.

No … they CAN make this stuff up.
