Problematic: The prince kissing Snow White without her consent examined in Parents Magazine

OK, so we’ve already covered Teen Vogue telling its readers everything they need to know about capitalism — that it needs to be destroyed — and now we’re on to Parents Magazine, which is tackling the problematic storylines of classic fairy tales, such as the prince kissing a comatose Snow White without her permission.

Actress Kristen Bell talked to Jessica Hartshorn about reading to her daughters, age 5 and 3:

“Every time we close Snow White I look at my girls and ask, ‘Don’t you think it’s weird that Snow White didn’t ask the old witch why she needed to eat the apple? Or where she got that apple?’ I say, ‘I would never take food from a stranger, would you?’ And my kids are like, ‘No!’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m doing something right.'”

The apple question is not the only one that Bell—a Disney Princess herself as the voice of Anna in Frozen—has after reading the tale. “Don’t you think that it’s weird that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission?” Bell says she has asked her daughters. “Because you can not kiss someone if they’re sleeping!”

Yeah, that is problematic.

I am survivor of abuse and for me as a child who grew up with Snow White, the story made me remember that not all men are abusers. Thats just my personal view. Know the difference between abuse and affection. He kissed her for love & to break a spell. Dont ruin the story for kids
