Quite a few people in high places — such as MSNBC’s Stephanie Cutter and Michael Steele and former CIA director Gen. Michael Hayden — are comparing the policy of separating families crossing the border illegally to Nazi Germany.
Add to that list Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal, who said the policy reminds Americans of the cattle cars of Nazi Germany.
Dem CT Sen Blumenthal: This policy of family separation reminds us of the cattle cars of Nazi Germany when children were separated from their parents and marched to supposed showers..it reminds us of all the darkest periods in American history..it should be stopped right away.

Talk like that should go a long way toward getting bipartisan legislation passed.
No, it doesn’t, and you should be ashamed of yourself for invoking the Holocaust, @SenBlumenthal https://t.co/bBZoFcLqZ8

Just so we are clear, you are equating the employees of Border Patrol with genocidal fascists? You actually think it’s OK to imply that US officials will murder millions of people, children, because of what exactly? @SenBlumenthal

.@SenBlumenthal: The "cattle cars of Nazi Germany."
Just like that service in Vietnam he lied about. https://t.co/HtkNAFKZjC

If this is all it takes for Blumenthal and his ilk to compare our country to Nazi Germany, they should really just go somewhere else.

Shameful. You are supposed to be a leader. This is not how you lead.

Weird how they're all saying the same thing. Maybe they need to fix the laws

For people who don’t know history this is a perfect propaganda tweet. No wonder anti-Trump clueless people keep yelling Nazi, Nazi. https://t.co/HqLOiHDLZ5

Can we please get some volunteers to do some psyc evals on the folks running around spreading crap about internment camps and concentration camps. These folks are unstable and should not be around others.

This is how you lose an argument by overreaching. When Nazi Germany is brought up, people stop listening. We can fix this in a responsible way. https://t.co/7Sn1as4tJm
