Report: Intuit suddenly stops processing credit card payments on gun-related sales

Remember back in March, when Citi Bank announced its new “firearms sales best practices”? In short, the bank said it would cease doing business with anyone that sells any firearms to anyone under 21 years old and any business that sells “high capacity magazines” (a term left undefined by the bank).

Now it’s June, and The New York Post is reporting that Intuit suddenly and without warning stopped processing credit card payments because sales were gun-related.

The New York Post reports:

Several gun-related businesses were suddenly — and without warning — disrupted in recent weeks when Intuit stopped processing credit card payments because sales were gun-related, The Post has learned.

Some of the payments stopped didn’t even involve firearms, but simply T-shirts and coffee mugs and gun safety classes, according to small business owners.

As a result, the businesses had to scramble to track down customers to get them pay their bills after Intuit credited back to customers’ accounts the purchases — even if the T-shirt was already shipped or the class already taken, one businessman told The Post.

Not processing credit card payments on T-shirts and coffee mugs — that’ll cut down on school shootings for sure.
