As Twitchy told you earlier, the NRA’s Dana Loesch had a dust-up on Twitter Tuesday night with Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, who repeatedly threatened legal action after Loesch called him out in a segment on NRA TV.
In her segment, Loesch nailed Acevedo for his support of sanctuary city laws but his apparent lack of interest in protecting the Second Amendment rights of American citizens. After the Santa Fe High School shooting, Acevedo posted to Facebook, “I know some have strong feelings about gun rights, but I want you to know I’ve hit rock bottom and I am not interested in your views as it pertains to this issue. Please do not post anything about guns aren’t the problem and there’s little we can do.”
“Be on notice that we’ll be watching,” he tweeted to Loesch Tuesday after turning down an invitation to appear on her show.
Lastly, I will not respond any further to you on any platform outside of a legal process. Be on notice that we will be watching and will do our talking in a court of Law if the need arises. Good day. https://t.co/xGKhMfaDqq

It was only Wednesday that Loesch wondered out loud just who the chief meant by “we” in that tweet. Acevedo and his lawyer? The Houston Police Department, maybe?
I forgot to ask this last night @ArtAcevedo : when you told me that “we will be watching” (as a result of you disliking my remarks on your reported-on support of sanctuary city policies), are you using the resources of the Houston PD to watch me? AM I under surveillance? https://t.co/VG5U2M5rdu

So, does this warning for Loesch to “be on notice” involve police department resources at all? Where do the officers stand on this issue?

Hi @houstonpolice , appreciate you. Your chief said he was “watching me” after my criticism of his reported-on sanctuary city support. I’m just curious what your SOP is on monitoring speech and whether these thoughts are shared. Thank you for your time. https://t.co/CIClq8Ve6b

Acevedo already said that he won’t respond to Loesch further outside of a courtroom, so the citizens of Twitter will just have to fill that gap.
This is a relevant question.

Can you say violation on both the color and spirit of law. Entitlement is not yours chief, as you work for the people. https://t.co/IiCsjz69sV

Hi @DLoesch – you may well have already done so –
At this juncture it would be wise and interesting to submit a "Texas Freedom of Information Request" to the City of Houston PD –To ascertain what files they may have compiled against you. https://t.co/HhpCnCnURU https://t.co/cGd05Br3uF

Our bet is Chief Acevedo was just trying to shut down an uncomfortable conversation he didn’t feel like having, but just how seriously is Loesch supposed to take his “threats”?
