First things first: Albert R. Hunt’s piece in Bloomberg this week is clearly labeled an opinion piece, but obviously one that Bloomberg felt was compelling enough to publish.
Hunt kicks off his piece with a CNN poll that shows most Americans think Barack Obama was a better president than Donald Trump has been. It’s not policy, though, that accounts for the result; to Hunt, it all boils down to one word: integrity.
Voters miss Obama. Why?
— Bloomberg (@business) May 19, 2018
“The explanation seems simpler: a respect for integrity,” Hunt writes. “Obama had it, running a largely corruption-free administration. The Trump presidency, all 16 months of it, has been marked by lies, greed, ethical transgressions and criminal charges.”
First, we always get a kick of out the retrospective claims that Obama’s administration was scandal-free, and second — isn’t this the guy who won Politifact’s “Lie of the Year” honor in 2013 for his claim that “If you like your plan, you can keep it”? And then there was Fast & Furious, spying on Fox News’ James Rosen, pallets of cash to Iran … wait, let’s leave some for others.

Voters miss Obama because the media choreographed a utopian fairy tale without the possibility scandal or misstep, compared to a 24/7 media suicide watch under Trump. https://t.co/8N3vXn61vE

LOL. No. Integrity. What a joke, more like the press became a propaganda mouth piece. So glad Obama is out. So glad. Equally glad Hildabeast lost. https://t.co/gOGAkVBSvF

The tag line of Obamacare was “If you like your plan you can keep your plan” he immediately broke that promise. Attributing integrity to Obama’s is equal to attributing subtlety to Trump https://t.co/u7aAG6WpCC

Interesting timing with the confirmation he was spying on Trump but sure, integrity. Morons. https://t.co/FB8eNCuKxT

– Obamacare disaster
– Pallets of cash to Iran
– My healthcare rising 160%!!!
– Looking the other way on Hillary’s illegal server
– Setting race relations back 30 years!
…Yep, that just screams integrity! https://t.co/wwWZA9qlwJ
