Michelle Obama calls Barack the 'good parent,' Donald Trump the fun one who lets you break rules

Remember way back in 2013 when the Obama administration pulled in some big names like Tony Bennett, Amanda Peet, and Chris Rock to “Demand a Plan to End Gun Violence”?

That’s when Rock, who apparently hadn’t prepared anything to say, came up with this call for gun control:

I’m just here to support the president of the United States. The president of the United States is, you know, our boss. But he’s also, you know, the president and the first lady are kind of like the mom and the dad of the country. And when your dad says something, you listen. And when you don’t, it usually bites you in the ass later on. So, I’m here to support the president.

Yep, the president and first lady are like the mom and dad of the country, and you do what your dad says. Great interpretation of the Second Amendment there.

Now it’s 2018, and we’re learning again that Michelle Obama still thinks of Barack Obama as the country’s dad, although he’s the good, responsible dad.

The Daily Caller reports that Obama made the comments Thursday at the Simmons Leadership Conference in Boston:

Obama then compared her husband’s administration to the Trump administration, saying that Barack Obama was like “having the ‘good parent’ at home. The responsible parent, the one who told you to eat your carrots and go to bed on time. And now we have the other parent. We thought it’d feel fun — maybe it feels fun for now because we can eat candy all day and stay up late and not follow the rules.”

So Barack was the good parent who told us all to eat our carrots and go to bed on time and get in people’s faces … no wonder we remember him so fondly.
