Search for this year's Sandra Fluke lands on woman who'll drive to Mexico for birth control thanks to GOP

Just because three journalists are resigning from CNN over a retracted story about Russia doesn’t mean that the rest of the team there isn’t working to crank out quality content to derail the GOP’s agenda.

While Democrats like Sen. Chuck Schumer and Sen. Elizabeth Warren play the extremes by presenting the AHCA as both “mean” and “blood money” paid in Americans’ lives, CNN took on the task of finding this news cycle’s Sandra Fluke, the woman who couldn’t afford to pay $3,000 for birth control while attending law school.

Somehow CNN landed on a 23-year-old high school teacher who was glad to share the ordeal she would face if the GOP managed to pass the AHCA and defund Planned Parenthood. That’s right; she’ll drive to Mexico for birth control if that’s what it comes down to.

Really? She’ll drive to Mexico (not that long a drive for her, incidentally) for birth control? She will if the Republicans defund Planned Parenthood … and all of its big money celebrity supporters in Hollywood don’t donate the cash (and not just their “talents”) to keep it open.

The problem is that “Trumpcare,” as Ariana [Gonzalez] calls it, would probably run her health clinic out of town. It’s Planned Parenthood, which the Republican health care proposal defunds because it performs abortions.

If the Republican plan passes and Planned Parenthood leaves town, Ariana says, her best option would be to cross the border, where she can see a gynecologist immediately. It’s an option she doesn’t want to take but will if she has to.

Busy with [two children] and her full-time job, all Ariana wants is a place to get regular birth control without having to take a day off work.
That brings her back to her plans to go to Mexico if “Trumpcare” passes. She places her faith in senators to stop a plan that she says would send her out of her own country to get health care, a plan she calls un-American.

Think about that before deciding if the repeal of Obamacare is what you really want. Oh, and also consider Gonzelez’ claim, “My husband and I can decide what’s best for us,” as she rallies to keep in place a system that mandates insurance coverage for all Americans.
