Donald Trump had threatened to skip out on tonight’s #CNNTownHall with Anderson Cooper, tweeting that the network “has nothing but my opponents on their shows.” In the end, Trump did show, and to no one’s surprise, Cooper’s first questions had to do with Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and the minor battery charges he faces following the alleged grabbing of former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields.
Trump has stood firmly by Lewandowski, and on CNN he told Cooper that Fields should not have been approaching him (he had already given his victory speech) and that as far as he knew, should could have had a knife rather than a pen.

Trump: "She had a pen in her hand, which could have been a knife. it could have been just a pen, which is very dangerous." A real quote. SAD

Or, Trump explained further, it could have just been a pen, “which is very dangerous.” Behold:

Doesn’t anybody remember the damage President Obama has done to the country with just a pen and a phone?

Donald Trump sure whines a lot for a frontrunner. @MichelleFields had a pen, it could have been a knife! He's a man-baby. #GOPTownHall

Trump says Michelle Fields was holding a pen which could've been a knife but a pen can be very dangerous too. Seriously? #GOPTownHall

Trump on what Michelle Fields may have been carrying: "It could have been a knife,” maybe “a little bomb." pic.twitter.com/mtAJbXk0zw

"She had a pen, it could have been a knife," Trump says of reporter in his press corps, virtually all of whom carry pens.

Use to carry pens, you mean. We sense a ban on the horizon.
Things that Trump says Michelle Fields could have been holding: a pen, a bomb, a knife or "who knows."
