The Daily Caller reported today that the Ted Cruz campaign has denied any connection with a fake Facebook page on which South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy announced that he’d changed his mind about endorsing Marco Rubio and was now backing Cruz.
Our campaign had absolutely nothing to do with this fraudulent Facebook post. https://t.co/OGMlAsnLPm

This kind of deception is deplorable and nothing like it would be tolerated by this campaign. https://t.co/ZUqtCu2Kme

According to the Daily Caller, a post surfaced Monday in which Gowdy announced, “It is official, I have changed my mind. My previous endorsement of Marco Rubio was a grave mistake… To all my Christian and Conservative friends in South Carolina, I hereby formally endorse Ted Cruz for President of the United States.” The page has since been taken down, but speculation over who created it in the first place runs the gamut.

@tedcruz @DailyCaller @TGowdySC , u r a lawyer, why accuse Cruz w/o validating the evidence? Seems like a @marcorubio tactic to me.

Most likely a Rubio or Trump supporter set it up for the attention it would receive. @tedcruz @peddoc63

@tedcruz The Rubio campaign probably put that page up to try to pin it on you.
— Squirrel! (@Team_Squirrel) February 16, 2016
@tedcruz @DailyCaller No one in Cruz camp is dumb enough to do this. There's only one person capable of doing something so deplorable.

@tedcruz Typical "Operation Gladio" false flag tactic. Good bet that the page was created by Rubio's staff to create a false narrative.

@tedcruz get your house in order Ted, your "team" seems to be creating way too much grey in your campaign efforts.

@tedcruz @DailyCaller I am behind you, Senator. Whomever did this is deliberately trying to smear you and your campaign.
