Ben Carson: Dropping out, or just running home for fresh clothes?

Every since the Republican race shaped up into a battle between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz (and possibly Marco Rubio), interest in the Ben Carson campaign has slipped significantly. In fact, what was going on with Carson tonight, as every other candidate was making a last minute push for voters before heading to New Hampshire?

.@RealBenCarson not going to New Hampshire nor South Carolina instead heads home to Florida then Washington per @jaketapper #IowaCaucus

Carson not going to NH says @CNN? Cruz no doubt wishing he'd already packed it in, putting his IA votes in play.

How @DanaBashCNN just reacted to news that Ben Carson will head home after oiowa: "If you want to be POTUS, you don’t go home to Florida."

— MJ Lee (@mj_lee) February 2, 2016

.@RealBenCarson heading home to Florida after Iowa to rest & be with family, not going directly to NH or SC, @moody reports.

— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) February 2, 2016

Ben Carson will likely speak at his victory party in Iowa before caucus results are in so he can catch a flight.

— Chris Moody (@moody) February 2, 2016

Carson won't go to NH/SC, but instead will head home to Florida for some R&R. He'll be in DC Thursday for the National Prayer Breakfast.

Carson approaches campaigning for president like I approached community college. I respect that. https://t.co/mZS6BmvdxD

Ben Carson's campaign tells me he plans to stay in the race beyond Iowa no matter what the results are tonight.

Armstrong Williams called. Said Carson is "100%" staying in the race, "going to be in NH later this week." Will rest in FL for couple days.

BREAKING ON CARSON: Campaign tells me he's NOT changing campaign sched… just leaving Iowa early b/c of storm… to get more clothes.

— Lisa Desjardins (@LisaDNews) February 2, 2016

Collapse of the Carson "campaign" is a credit to the voters who considered and then dropped him, regardless of where they end up.

— Ross Douthat (@DouthatNYT) February 2, 2016

Williams spoke to Carson minutes ago. Said Carson furious that people think he's quitting. Claims it's a long sched brief rest. "He's in!"

— Robert Costa (@costareports) February 2, 2016

Team Carson tells me they are NOT taking a break from campaign. He's off to DC, NC, NH and SC after a brief stop in FL.

@LisaDNews @EWErickson I think he could afford to buy more clothes?

— reneecjones (@reneecjones10) February 2, 2016

@LisaDNews @gwenifill do they not sell clothes in NH?

@LisaDNews @Eagle_Vision Only he has the secret code to his closet.

Carson adviser Ed Brookover calls: “He’ll simply spend one night at home, no truth to rumors” of pending drop out

— Robert Costa (@costareports) February 2, 2016

Carson will leave Iowa for a brief 12 hour stop in WPB Florida to refresh. Quick turn around to New Hampshire and SC to build momentum.

— Armstrong Williams (@Arightside) February 2, 2016

Team @RealBenCarson disputes CNN report. They tell me he's not taking break from campaign. They say he's "in it to Cleveland."

— toddstarnes (@toddstarnes) February 2, 2016

Cruz team still trying to spread the rumor that Carson is getting out despite the fact it's already been denied by Carson's team.

Carson is currently wrapping up a speech in Clive, Iowa.

@katiepack @TheRickWilson That is malpractice. Either go to SC or NH or drop out.
