Police were first called to the area for a report of gunshots fired and an armed man riding a bicycle around 102nd Street, a senior police official tells NBC 4 New York.
When officers caught up with the man several blocks north, on 120th Street near the FDR Drive, a shootout ensued, the official said. An officer was shot in the head during the shootout and taken to Harlem Hospital.
Another man who was wounded by a gunshot was found nearby, although police are unsure if he is the suspect or another victim.

Nothing would make me happier than to be dead wrong about the officer's condition. But the source is as solid as they come.
