Sunday’s Washington Post featured on its Opinion page a piece by Fred Hiatt simply entitled, “A gun-free society,” leaving little guesswork as to his stand on gun control:
Maybe it’s time to start using the words that the NRA has turned into unmentionables.
Prohibition.
Mass buyback.
A gun-free society.
Let’s say that one again: A gun-free society.
Doesn’t it sound logical? Doesn’t it sound safe? Wouldn’t it make sense to learn from other developed nations, which believe that only the military and law enforcers, when necessary, should be armed — and which as a result lose far, far fewer innocent people than die every year in the United States?
“It would take time,” admits Hiatt, who goes on to detail his dream word in easy reader style. That notorious gun show loophole should be closed, and as for the Second Amendment, the Supreme Court has been wrong before, and would correct itself again “if public opinion shifts.”
Fortunately, radio and TV host and author Dana Loesch does fantastic work waking Hiatt from his “make-believe society wherein evil doesn’t exist, people don’t need to defend themselves, and the Bill of Rights are just malleable suggestions.”

Plus, she had some bonus tweets for the gun confiscation crowd in the wake of the #UCCShooting.
These people hate innocent, law-abiding gun owners more than the actual murderers.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 8, 2015
Notice none of these people condemned the actual murderer. Their first reaction is to blame innocent people.

When asked “what law would have prevented the tragedy?” they’re speechless. They have no solutions.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 8, 2015
And they’re always male-dominated groups. Moms Demand was founded, and is bankrolled, by a man.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 8, 2015
They purposefully ignore the thousands upon thousands of 2A women so they can try to make the face of 2A male. It’s a tactic.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 8, 2015
Every time a 2A knowledgeable woman speaks out they attack her looks, her family, etc. (See most recently @julieG1 .)
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 8, 2015
But if the face of 2A is male, the male-run anti-gun groups can push clueless hired PR women in front and cry “sexism!” over disagreement.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 8, 2015
Meanwhile, the male operated and bankrolled anti-2A groups hire armed security for their female PR spokespeople. The irony is epic.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 8, 2015
Meanwhile, women 2A practitioners? Have a real passion for self defense, hunting, shooting sports. They aren’t hired PR people from Monsanto
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 8, 2015
This is getting pretty intense. Maybe we should have set up a link to a “safe space” in another post for those who might be triggered by unapologetic women.
Fact: We have background checks. We have process for mental adjudication. We have gun laws. There are no loopholes. They propose nothing new
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 8, 2015
If you have your driver’s license suspended for DUI and you continue to drive, that isn’t a “loophole.” That’s a criminal act.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 8, 2015
In fact, the previous mass murderers did not obtain firearms through that make-believe “loophole.” Checks and mental health pros failed.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 8, 2015
Maybe we should pass a law for gangs that criminalizes buying guns in less restrictive states OH WAIT THAT’S ALREADY A LAW AND BANNED.
