As Twitchy reported, Madonna ran afoul of many of her followers on Instagram Friday when she referred to her (white) son Rocco by the hashtag #disnigga. Madonna certainly wasn’t contrite, quickly updating the photo but only to tell her haters to “get off my dick.”
A day later, though, all seems to be forgiven. Madonna issued a statement to the Associated Press apologizing for her choice of words.
I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N word on Instagram. It was not meant as a racial slur. I am not a racist. There’s no way to defend the use of the word. It was all about intention. It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white. I appreciate that it’s a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression.
So… what if Madonna’s name were Phil Robertson?
@DLoesch @RiskRank all Madonna needed to say is she is not racist because some of my best friends are black & everything would've been fine.

@DLoesch Indeed. Wonder if MSM plans to cover this??

@DLoesch The real issue isn't name, it's political beliefs. "We like you, so we believe your apology" is the name of the game right now
