When you’ve lost the New York Times … well, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve lost the New York Times. The editors of the fish wrap of record surprised quite a few earlier today — maybe even themselves — with a scathing opinion piece declaring in no uncertain terms that “the [Obama] administration has now lost all credibility” in the wake of the NSA/Verizon scandal. We’ve all said things we regret, though, and the New York Times quietly appended a clarification to the most quoted line of its editorial.
With so many scandals in the mix at this point, someone thought it necessary to append “on this issue” to the piece. In other words, when the editors said the administration had lost all credibility, they didn’t really mean all credibility.
